Team Umizoomi Cake

My Daughter is obsessed with Team Umizoomi, so here is her 4th birthday cake. I'm still not a fan of making figures and characters, but I think they turned out ok. This cake is not my best work but's it is the best I could do considering my other cake project and the time and the fact the I had trouble with the inside of this cake. Most important though is that my daughter liked it, which she did. I think her favorite part was getting to eat Millie though.

Happy Birthday Sweet Girl!

Ombre Ruffle Cake

My Mom's birthday and my daughter's birthday are on the same day so it was a busy cake week for me. My mom turned 60 this year so we wanted to do something special. We were able to surprise her with a party with many of her friends and family. She was so excited to see that I had made her a cake, she wasn't expecting it since I also had to make my daughter's cake the same time. It was worth all the stress and late nights to see her reaction, she loved it. I have decided I love the ruffles! Ruffles are so much fun to make, and they look so pretty! Can't wait to use this technique again.

Jake and the Neverland Pirates

My son LOVES Jake and the Neverland Pirates, so of course be wanted a "Bucky the Pirate Ship" cake. I was nervous, I don't like carving cakes or making shaped cakes. I was pleasantly surprised with this cake though. It was pretty easy to do and I had fun making the wood plank detail. I love how this one turned out, so did my Birthday Boy! Happy 6th birthday Logan!

Soccer cupcakes

My son finished his 3rd season of soccer and I made these for his end of season party.
They were a big hit!

Jungle Theme Baby Shower cake

Jungle themed baby shower cake. All fondant decorations are hand sculpted or cut and hand painted. Except the palm trees, I used a cookie cutter for those. I really enjoyed painting all the little animals.

Transformer cake

Here is the cake I made for my son's birthday party that he had with all his little friends. He is obsessed with the transformers right now, especially Optimus Prime. Here is the Autobot logo in cake form. Logan, my son, wanted to help with the cake and wanted to paint one of the "cracks" in the cake. I let him pick his spot, he picked the back for some reason, and let him go at it. It looks more like a stick figure than a crack but he was very proud of it.

"Hand Turkey" cake for my little turkey

This year my son's 5th birthday fell on Thanksgiving. When I asked him what kind of cake he wanted he told me he wanted a hand turkey on it. I'm not sure where he came up with the idea but I thought it was a great idea. We used his hand as a template and created the turkey together. It was fun. Can't believe he is 5 already.

Wakeboard Cake

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband! He turned the big 4-0 this year. He is an avid wakeboarder. The board is Styrofoam covered in fondant. I made the wakeboard bindings by using a baby bootie template and hand painted the logo on the board. It is a chocolate mint cake with mint buttercream.

Smurf cake

Two tier buttercream covered smurf cake with fondant and gumpaste details. Smurfs figures hand made by me. I still need some practice on my figures but I think I did ok for a first attempt at anything like this. Happy 5th Birthday Makenna!

It's All Coming Up Roses

A bouquet of Roses for the wonderful midwife I work for.
It has been a tough year for her and thought she needed a pretty cake for her birthday.
She LOVED it.
It is banana cake with cream cheese frosting, her favorite.
I used Duff's easy rose technique for the flowers. The were pretty easy to make, still alittle time consuming but not nearly as much as the technique I used on my first attempt as roses in January. I think they turned out pretty well and will use Duff's trick for any future roses.

Sundae cupcakes

Fun little Ice Cream Sundae cupcakes for a co-worker. Chocolate cake with
vanilla swiss meringue buttercream. Yum.

My Famous Banana Cupcakes!?

My banana cake/cupcakes seems to be my most popular flavor. My co-workers are always looking forward to a time when I will bring a batch in. One of my coworkers told me when I brought these in last time that they were the best cupcakes she has ever had, and she's a self proclaimed cupcakes expert! She's eaten at some of the well known bakeries and cupcakeries so I take that as a huge compliment.
Anyway not to toot my own horn but I am always amazed and the feedback I get when people taste and/or see my cakes.
I also had fun playing with melted chocolate on these. I love the little extra it brought to the cake and it was so fun and easy. Can't wait to use that technique again.

Graduation Cake

Its been a while I know, but I took a little break due to a couple of vacations in the month of  May.
Here is a cake I did for a middle school graduation. I heard this girl had a rough go at middle school. I sure hope the kids in high school treat her better. She is an amazing, talented kid.
The cake is red velvet with cream cheese frosting.
